Remembering Everything You Read
[Readwise]
SUPERHUMAN SCORE: 9.05
Principle-First
Applied knowledge is power.
Yet it’s impossible to apply knowledge you’ve forgotten.
Enter Readwise.
INTRODUCING READWISE
Readwise stores your digital highlights from books, articles, Twitter, and more. Quickly search and find your favorite passages.
Readwise offers two versions: Readwise Lite ($3.99) and Readwise ($7.99). Check out the tiers here.
Noteworthy features:
- Receive a daily email that surfaces highlights at an optimal pace for retention (spaced repetition)
- Sync Readwise to your existing note taking apps (Evernote, Notion, Roam, etc.)
- Enjoy a better interface than Kindle's desktop notes viewer.
SUPERHUMAN SCORING
In every edition of All Systems Go, I assess the featured product across four superhuman dimensions: impact, setup, maintenance, and aesthetics.
Unlike your typical product review, I focus on factors that influence personal growth. Get to know the evaluation system.
Impact (9.5/10)
I’ve grown my Twitter following from 0 to 57k in 4.5 months.
My secret sauce (until now):
A robust system for storing, retrieving, and curating information.
I’ve read hundreds of books on my Kindle. Each highlighted.
I use Readwise to access those highlights, connect concepts, and develop new ideas.
Whether you’re a content creator, student, or simply a lifelong learner, Readwise will help you remember the good stuff.
Setup (9.0/10)
Here are the steps:
- Import highlights from Kindle, Instapaper, Pocket, iBooks, etc.
- Get a daily email to review desired content (or access in the app)
- Search your highlights/notes whenever you need them
- Recall more, apply more
Maintenance (8.0/10)
New highlights will auto-sync in Readwise as you consume material.
Take 5-10 minutes to review highlights daily (fits nicely with an evening or morning routine).
Pro tip: Active on Twitter? Want to save threads to review later? Link your Twitter account and comment under the thread you wish to capture: “@readwise save.”
Aesthetics (9.0/10)
Readwise (iOS, Android) has received 4.8/5 stars with 658 reviews in Apple’s App Store.
It’s a new app (2021 launch) and off to a hot start.
The user experience is intuitive, minimalist, and distraction-free. Everything you’d want in a focused learning tool.
BRINGING IT HOME
Readwise is like reading with superpowers. It’s a retention multiplier on every input.
Try it free for 30 days (not affiliated).
